How Zado SMS opt-in works

Zado uses transactional SMS so you can approve, decline, or pause an AI agent’s purchase request from your phone. Every text is triggered by an action you or your agent took. There is no marketing, no promotions, and no surveys.

The four-step opt-in flow

Reviewer reference: this is what a user sees inside the authenticated Zado app at Settings > Phones. The image below illustrates each step.

Four-step illustration of the Zado SMS opt-in flow: (1) open Settings > Phones, (2) enter phone number and read the consent statement, (3) receive a 6-digit verification code by SMS, (4) confirm and see the verified state with STOP keyword opt-out.

  1. Open Settings > Phones. The user is already authenticated; the page is not visible to logged-out visitors.
  2. Enter phone number + read the consent statement. The submit button is labeled with an explicit consent disclosure: “By tapping Send code you agree to receive transactional SMS from Zado for purchase approvals and settlement confirmations. No marketing. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Msg & data rates apply.”
  3. Receive a 6-digit verification code by SMS. The first message every new number receives includes the keywords Reply HELP for support, STOP to opt out.
  4. Confirm the code. On success the number is wired to receive approval texts and a verified-state row appears in Settings.

What Zado sends

  • Purchase approval requests. When an AI agent connected through the Zado MCP wants to spend more than your delegated threshold, Zado texts you a summary and asks you to reply YES or NO.
  • Settlement confirmations. An optional one-line text when the transaction completes (e.g. “Approved $87.40 grocery charge cleared on your Stripe Issuing card.”).
  • Phone verification codes. A one-time 6-digit code when you add or re-verify a number.

Never marketing. Never promotional. Never automated follow-ups. Every text is triggered by a specific action you or your agent took.

STOP, HELP, and START keywords

Reply STOP

Sent in reply to any Zado text. All SMS to that number stops immediately. You will receive a single confirmation text and nothing else. The same opt-out keyword works: STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT.

Reply HELP

Sent in reply to any Zado text. You receive a single response with support contact info: “Zado SMS. Reply STOP to opt out. Support: nicholas.smith@evolvingintelligence.ai or https://zadofi.ai.”

Reply START

Sent in reply to your prior STOP confirmation, or sent to the Zado short code at any time. Re-enables SMS to that number. You can also re-verify the phone in Settings > Phones — same effect.

How often Zado texts

  • One SMS per agent purchase that requires your approval.
  • Plus one SMS per phone-verification setup (one-time).
  • Plus an optional settlement confirmation when the transaction completes.

Typical: a few SMS per day if your agents are active; zero if they are not. Standard message and data rates may apply per your wireless plan. Zado does not charge you for SMS.

Phone number handling

Your phone number is stored only to deliver the texts you asked for. It is never sold, never shared with marketers, and never used for advertising. Verification codes are stored as a one-way bcrypt hash and deleted after successful verification. Twilio is our SMS provider; their handling is covered by Twilio’s own privacy policy.
